Asbestos Management Plans / Asbestos Surveying
If you own, occupy, manage or have responsibility for non-domestic premises, it is your duty to manage the risk from any materials containing asbestos under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
As well as possibly putting at risk the health of your staff and customers, the responsible people could be liable for some or all of the following:
- Closure of the premises
- Personal fines of up to £20,000
- Disqualification from Directorship
- A custodial sentence
These might sound like extreme measures but asbestos is potentially a very dangerous substance - currently in the UK, 3,500 people die each year as a result of exposure to asbestos.
In order to discharge your legal responsibilities you must first carry out an asbestos survey to establish the presence, location, quantity, nature and condition of any asbestos on your premises. You must also have a plan for managing any asbestos if it is found.
The Health and Safety People can assist you with that by surveying for asbestos and reporting on the findings. This report will indicate whether further intrusive investigation is required. We can then put together an asbestos management plan to allow you to properly discharge your legal obligations.
We also provide a wide range of health and safety services to the asbestos industry. To discuss our Asbestos Service in more detail, please call our consultant team on 08456 122 144 or email us at
