THSP Rewards Health and Safety Initiative at Awards - 18 May 2005

The Health and Safety People, the leading independent health and safety consultancy, has been involved again this year with the Construction Health and Safety Awards, sponsoring the award for the best Contractors Health and Safety initiative. The Award ceremony and evening, hosted by news reader Jon Snow, took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on May 18th 2005.

“We are delighted to support these awards” said John Thoday, Managing Director of the Health and Safety People, “We are quick to condemn poor health and safety standards, but we believe that the construction industry has some very good practice indeed and that it is time to say ‘well done’ to those organisations who do achieve great health and safety on site”. The Best Contractors Health and Safety Initiative award was won by Skanska, one of the UK’s leading main contractors.

The awards, organised by the HSE and Building Magazine, have quickly become the “Oscars” of the health and safety industry attracting an audience of nearly 1000 revellers whose party went on into the wee small hours.
