From the 1st July 2007 virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces will become smokefree. Take a look at our article for a handy checklist on what you need to do to comply with the new smokefree law.
Prosecutions this month include an individual fine for a company director who ignored the HSE and another individual fine against a company director in relation to asbestos exposure. Other prosecutions include a £10,000 fine for a scaffolding company following an incident involving a work experience student, a £12,000 fine following an incident in which an employee was electrocuted by overhead power lines, and a £100,000 fine for British Waterways following a fatal incident.
