Major embarrassment for CITB-ConstructionSkills as Training Division fails inspection
After failing a routine inspection of its courses, the National Construction College (NCC), which is the training division of CITB-ConstructionSkills, has recently been banned from taking on new trainees. In addition, trainees that have already completed courses are unable to be signed off by the NCC without the use of an external verifier.
The ban followed an inspection carried out by the City and Guilds on the assessment and verification standards at the NCC. An action plan has been agreed to address the points raised from the inspection to enable the NCC to regain a full set of accreditations.
This does not help the construction industry in the short term. The NCC, trains more than 30,000 individuals a year. Organisations within the construction industry continue to require this training – particularly with regards to skills cards and NVQ training, and at the moment, organisations are unable to get individuals signed up to courses.
If your organisation has been let down by the NCC, The Health and Safety People Ltd may be able to help. Contact Claire Lawson in our training department on 08456 122 144 for further information.
