Construction bosses may look into installing better toilet and washing facilities for their workers after a firm was fined in Bridlington.
Bryan Brown & Son was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) yesterday (March 4th).
The building site run by the company had a toilet that was not plumbed in and there was no water supply.
An improvement notice had been served but when inspectors revisited the site they found the conditions were unchanged.
On a subsequent visit, some alterations had been made but there was still no running water in certain areas.
Mr Brown must now pay a £2,000 fine and costs of £1,215, due to the breach of two health and safety laws.
HSE inspector Geoff Clark said: "Bryan Ellis Brown subjected his employees to an unhygienic and potentially unsafe working environment. Having access to suitable welfare facilities is a basic human right."
It is "unacceptable" that these services were lacking, he added.
According to the government, an improvement notice specifies the law in breach, what must be done to and when the changes must be made by.
