First Aid at Work

Course Duration Four Days including practical element
Who will Benefit Where an employer has carried out a risk assessment and identified a need for a fully qualified First Aider. It is an essential training requirement for organisations with more than 50 employees and for those in high-risk sectors such as construction or transport plus for anyone responsible for the well-being of others at work
Aims of Training Delegates will receive thorough training in a range of First Aid competencies including:
  • Aims and principles of first aid
  • Prevention of cross-infection during first aid procedures
  • Basic life support (BLS)
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded, bleeding or shocked
  • Assessment and treatment of fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
  • Assessment and treatment of burns, poisoning and eye injuries
  • Assessment and treatment of common major and minor illnesses
  • Emergency transport of casualties
  • Legal aspects of first aid at work - record keeping and use of equipment
  • Maximum Number of Delegates 10 attendees is the optimum number as each individual is assessed

    This training is also run as a public course
    Resources Required Client to provide:
  • Training room to comfortably accommodate all the delegates with 240V power supply

  • Trainer to provide:
  • Training Equipment (course notes, first aid equipment for practical element and presentation package)
  • Clothing There is a large practical element in the course and the trainees are advised to wear casual clothes as there is a requirement to sit/kneel on the floor during some of the practical exercises
